OVERVIEW OF CLIENT SERVICES

Client eligibility for service is dependent on needs, goals and the guidelines of the various funding bodies. Some level of service is available to all Canadians.

Clients are served under the case-management model. That is, one consultant becomes the primary contact through all elements of program service. The consultant will then follow-up with that client after the client has become employed or feels self-sufficient in meeting all their employment-related goals set.

  1. Information and Referral
The Employment Resource provides a wide variety of labour market, job search and career planning information in print, computer-based, audio and video formats. Job banks and job postings are available. Workshops are scheduled on a regular basis to cover employment-related topics. Computers, fax machines, phones, and photocopiers are available for client use. Staff is available to assist with the resources and to help users of the centre determine the level of service they need or if other community resources might be beneficial. Service is available in both French and English.
  2. Employment Planning and Preparation
Clients may be eligible for individual or small group assistance in career planning and job search. They may continue to use the Employment Resource Centre and work with a consultant to guide their research and decision-making. Client independence determines the level of assistance that is provided.
  3. Job Development/Placement Support/Wage Subsidy Programs
Clients may also be eligible for workplace-based interventions that include referral to available jobs, time limited support in the workplace and/or wage subsidies.
  4. Training Support
Some clients may be eligible for training supports that will assist them in gaining the necessary skills to increase their ability to find and keep appropriate employment.
