Another successful program that we offer is Summer Jobs Service, which is designed to encourage employment and training of our students (age 15-30 and up to 29 with a disability) during the summer months.

To be eligible for this program any students you hire, either directly or through FOCUS, must be returning to school in September.

To encourage employers to hire and provide training to our young adults, the SJS program provides a $2.00 per hour subsidy for full or part-time positions. The application process begins in March. Employers are allotted subsidies which are based on eligibility and on a first come first served basis.

If you are interested in applying for Summer Jobs Service, advise Employer Services to ensure you receive the application in March as funds are limited.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR JOB CONNECT AND SUMMER JOBS

• To access Job Connect and Summer Jobs, your business must be registered to legally do business in Ontario, and be taking applicable payroll deductions.
• Your business must have W.S.I.B. and third party liability coverage.
• Your new hire cannot be directly related to you.
• A Federal business number will need to be provided in order to be eligible for a subsidized placement.
• If you are considering having an apprentice please call for information as you may also be eligible for a wage subsidy.
